KARACHI: A total of 603 fatalities have been recorded in various traffic mishaps throughout the city this year, according to official rescue data.

Statistical matrices compiled by metropolitan emergency rescue administrators provide a grim breakdown of the demographics impacted by the city’s ongoing road safety crisis. Of the total individuals who suffered fatal injuries on the metropolitan tarmac over the course of the current year, the casualties comprised 463 adult males, 73 adult females, and 67 young children.

This newly tabulated data acts as a somber reflection of the escalating public safety hazards that plague the city’s vast, heavily congested transport network, underscoring a sharp rise in vehicular fatalities across various neighborhoods.

Beyond the immediate loss of life, local first responders and medical teams reported that an additional 7,467 citizens sustained varying degrees of physical trauma and injuries due to numerous vehicular collisions throughout the metropolis during this same timeframe.

A closer inspection of the trauma hospital admissions reveals that the injured population consists of ,5649 men, 1,322 women, and 496 children, many of whom required intensive emergency medical interventions or long-term rehabilitative care after surviving these severe street-level encounters.

Simultaneously, massive commercial transport and freight machinery proved to be a exceptionally lethal component of the city’s traffic ecosystem, with heavy-duty vehicles directly causing the deaths of 184 commuters over the year.
