Longtime wrestling followers got a taste of the creative arts on Saturday at the Art Gallery of Alberta.

Love Pro Wrestling, which brings professional matches based in Edmonton and Calgary straight to the public, partnered up

alongside the gallery because of artist Kim Parrent’s newest wrestling-themed portrait paintings.

Parrent’s show was inspired by the inspiring, larger-than-life personalities of her hometown wrestlers. “They’re part of Alberta

history … It operated non-seasonal, 365 days a year. So I give these guys huge credit. I think it’s a really fun fit. It’s a mashup

between 2D, 3D. It’s performance art,” she explained in an interview.

Organizers hope the event brought two separate worlds together for a unique cultural experience. “You’re getting a little bit of

everything. Pro wrestling is a nice little buffet of entertainment,” Group president Spencer Love stated. “We also pride ourselves

on doing events like this, pro wrestling where you wouldn’t necessarily expect it.”
