EDMONTON — Canadian golf star Brooke Henderson announced some big personal news as she prepares for next week’s AIG Women’s British Open and the defence of her title at the LPGA Tour’s CPKC Women’s Open next month in Edmonton.

Henderson announced on Instagram on Sunday that she is engaged to Minnesota Twins prospect Ricky Castro.

The announcement comes after Henderson’s impressive showing at the Evian Championship last week. Henderson set an LPGA major record with six eagles before losing in a playoff to South Korea’s Ryu Hae-ran.

Henderson, 28, has 14 LPGA Tour wins, including two major titles, since turning professional in 2014.

Castro, 26, signed with the Twins in 2024 and is currently pitching for the Triple-A St. Paul Saints.
