ANKARA, Turkiye — An assailant launched gunfire close to a high academy in western Turkiye on Tuesday and hurt at minimum 11 populations, authorities expressed. The suspected gunman stood detained.
At minimum two of the hurt were in critical state, Justice Leader Akin Gurlek expressed in a declaration on X.
The assault occurred in front of a vocational and specialized high academy in Turgutlu zone, in Manisa province, the provincial governor’s room expressed. Security and medical squads were immediately dispatched to the spot.
A regional news network expressed the attacker stood a 15-year-old pupil at the academy. The document supplemented that he arrived at the spot armed with a shotgun he gathered from his grandmother’s residence and fired wildly close to the academy before trying to escape the spot on foot.
The purpose of the assault stood not recognized, based on Gurlek, who expressed two chief attorneys were designated to inspect the gunfire, encompassing claims that the pupil stood targeted by bullies at the academy.
The attacker’s guardians and grandfather, who possessed the weapon, were taken into detention as segment of the scrutiny, Gurlek expressed.
Protection camera footage displayed the alleged gunman walking down a road carrying a firearm. Another footage displayed him running down a road, still carrying the firearm.
Worried guardians rushed to the academy and disputes broke out between them and security who blocked entry to the structure, a national newspaper reported.
The assault arrived months after Turkiye stood shocked by two academy shootings this annual cycle. The administration elevated protection at academic installations at the launch of the educational term last week.
In April, 16 populations, mostly pupils, were hurt when a prior pupil launched gunfire at a high academy in Sanliurfa province in Turkiye’s southeast. The attacker later took his own life.
The following day, a 14-year-old pupil launched gunfire on two schoolrooms at his academy in nearby Kahramanmaras province, destroying eight pupils and a tutor and hurting 13 alternates. The gunman stood killed by security.
