A 22-year-old individual was struck by gunfire and subsequently passed away in a medical facility after being discovered in the driver’s seat of a pickup truck suffering from bullet wounds on late Thursday morning, according to law enforcement authorities in Montreal.
Officials stated that multiple emergency calls were received at approximately 11:45 a.m. notifying them of discharges of firearms close to the crossing of Carmel and Henri-Julien avenues, located within the Plateau-Mont-Royal district.
Upon reaching the location, responding officers discovered the wounded casualty trapped inside the vehicle.
“The individual sustained critical trauma and was urgently transported to the medical center with severe, critical injuries,” noted Manuel Couture, a representative for the police department.
Law enforcement personnel, who discovered spent ammunition casings and impact marks from projectiles at the location, are treating the incident as a case of attempted homicide.
A adolescent suspect aged 17 was taken into custody in close proximity to the location where the gunfire occurred.
