At least 600 homes and businesses in central Montreal do not have running water on Thursday after several main water pipes burst open.

City workers verified that repair teams are at the location to fix the problem on Lincoln Avenue between du Fort and St-Marc streets.

The event is likewise cutting off the water flow to buildings on Stanley, Guy, and Drummond streets. Workers clarified that repair

operations on the main water supply network caused a greater-than-expected jump in water pressure, leading to breaks and leaks

inside the Ville-Marie neighborhoods.

Even so, they made it clear that the safety and cleanliness of the water was not damaged at any moment.

The city added that the drop-off of bottled drinking water and movable toilets is being planned for the local neighborhood.

There is no statement yet regarding exactly when the problem will be fully fixed.
