Bangladesh has condemned a reported drone attack targeting the holy city of Makkah in Saudi Arabia, reaffirming its solidarity with the Kingdom and its people. “Bangladesh reaffirms its deep respect for the sanctity of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and the other Holy Sites in the Kingdom, and expresses solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people in protecting those,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release on Wednesday.
It stressed that the safety and security of the holy sites must be fully respected and protected at all times. Earlier, the Saudi-led coalition fighting Yemen’s Houthis said it had intercepted and destroyed a drone launched by the rebels towards Makkah, reports AFP.
“The Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces intercepted and destroyed a hostile drone launched by the Terrorist Houthi Militia before it entered the Prohibited Airspace Area of the Holy City of ‘Makkah Al-Mukarramah’,” coalition spokesperson Turki al-Maliki said in a statement posted on X.
Meanwhile, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned what it described as “heinous” attacks by the Houthis against Makkah and the Madinah region. The Houthis have denied carrying out the attack.
“The General Secretariat of the OIC condemns the heinous attacks carried out by the Houthi group against the city of Makkah and the Madinah region,” the organisation said in a statement posted on X. Bangladesh has censured a detailed flyer assault focusing the sacred city of Makkah in Saudi Arabia, reasserting its alliance with the Realm and its populace.
“Dhaka reasserts its profound honor for the purity of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and the alternative Sacred Zones in the Realm, and conveys alliance with the Realm of Saudi Arabia and its populace in defending those,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed in a press circular on Wednesday. It highlighted that the protection and safety of the sacred zones must be fully honored and defended at all intervals.
Earlier, the Saudi-led alliance battling Yemen’s Houthis expressed it had blocked and ruined a flyer sent out by the dissidents towards Makkah, documents AFP.
“The Royal Saudi Air Defense Troops blocked and ruined a hostile flyer sent out by the Terrorist Houthi Militia before it crossed the Barred Airspace Zone of the Sacred City of ‘Makkah Al-Mukarramah’,” alliance speaker Turki al-Maliki expressed in a declaration published on X.
Meanwhile, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) censured what it characterized as “vile” assaults by the Houthis against Makkah and the Madinah province.
The Houthis have refuted executing the assault. “The General Secretariat of the OIC censures the vile assaults executed by the Houthi faction against the city of Makkah and the Madinah province,” the body expressed in a declaration published on X.
