A partnership wedded in waist-high inundation inside a Catholic cathedral within the Philippines on Tuesday.
Leian Liezza Galang trudged throughout muddy brown current within St John the Baptist cathedral inside Hagonoy, north of Manila, to marry Gilbert Chico.
The duo had been counselled to place their matrimony on standby owing to month-long inundations across the Southeast Asian archipelago, but resolved to proceed forward.
“We did not care that our dress and tuxedo became drenched,” expressed the husband, who stated he and his spouse had concurred unanimously to press onward.
The community cleric pronounced the partners, both inside their 30s, spouse and husband during a late-morning ritual, Mikko Rey Alfonso, the wedding photographer, expressed.
“The congregation had recommended them to defer the matrimony owing to the swelling inundation from upriver. It was their resolution to advance,” Mr Alfonso expressed, appending the cathedral had remained partially submerged for close to a month.
“Because they desired to finish it out, we the attendants of the congregation did the finest we managed to render this a singular date for them.
“They care for each other. Nothing could halt their alliance.”
Heavier-than-normal seasonal downpours delivered mudslides and sudden torrents to the northern slice of the archipelago in August.
