On Sunday, Iran’s armed forces declared they are providing a financial reward valued at $30,000 for the death or capture of American service members, with the payout doubling if the act is executed by a female.
According to the IRNA state news agency, Defense Leader Amir Hatami explained that the initiative was structured after receiving an abundance of inquiries regarding financial contribution opportunities.
Aside from an April recovery operation to retrieve a downed American pilot, no active deployment of United States ground troops inside Iranian territory has occurred throughout the Middle East conflict.
Hatami refrained from offering specifics regarding the location or timeframe for the targeted neutralization or detention of American service members.
“Any individual who terminates or apprehends and delivers a hostile American operative will be granted a payout valued at $30,000, or 5 billion tomans, by the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Hatami stated, referencing a local currency denomination equal to 10,000 Iranian rials.
“Valiant Iranian women who accomplish this feat will be eligible for twice the financial compensation,” he further noted.
The armed conflict between Tehran and Washington erupted on February 28 following a joint military strike by the United States and Israel against Iranian territory.
Following a collapsed June peace framework, the two nations have engaged in intermittent exchanges of fire centered in southern Iran and the Strait of Hormuz.
