Pakistan reaffirmed their growing dominance in regional volleyball by defeating Bangladesh in straight sets to win the ZONG 5G Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Men’s Volleyball Championship 2026 at the Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad, on Wednesday.
Roared on by a capacity home crowd, the hosts produced another commanding display to outclass Bangladesh 25-20, 25-16, 25-20 in the championship final, completing a flawless campaign without conceding a single set throughout the eight-day international tournament.
The green shirts entered the final unbeaten and lived up to expectations with an impressive all-round performance built on powerful serving, disciplined blocking, sharp attacking combinations and resolute defence. Pakistan controlled the opening set before raising their intensity in the second, leaving Bangladesh struggling to find momentum. Although the visitors mounted resistance in the third set, Pakistan remained composed at crucial moments to wrap up the title in convincing fashion.
The championship, organised by the Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) under the auspices of the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA), featured six teams and highlighted the rising standard of volleyball across the region. Pakistan’s unbeaten triumph further strengthened its reputation as one of Central Asia’s leading volleyball nations and an emerging host of major international sporting events.
Earlier, Sri Lanka secured the bronze medal after edging Uzbekistan in a thrilling five-set contest. Sri Lanka prevailed 25-19, 22-25, 25-23, 19-25, 15-11 to finish third, while Uzbekistan ended the tournament in fourth place.
Pakistan also dominated the individual honours announced during the closing ceremony. Murad Jehan was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) after playing a pivotal role in Pakistan’s title-winning campaign. He also earned a place among the dream team’s outside hitters alongside Sri Lanka’s Tharusha Chamath Dilshan Weerappulige. Pakistan’s Musawer Khan was selected as best middle blocker, while Murad Khan was named best opposite player. Bangladesh’s Al Amin MD claimed the best setter award, Md Naieem Hossen was recognised as best middle blocker and Md Shaon Ali was named best libero.
PVF Chairman Ch. Muhammad Yaqoob hailed the victory as a reflection of the players’ dedication, discipline and relentless hard work, while federation president Sohail Khawar Mir described the unbeaten title run as a landmark achievement that would further elevate Pakistan’s standing in international volleyball.
